Mr. Hirsch has extensive experience in criminal litigation. He is a Certified Specialist in Criminal Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.

He was awarded Criminal Defense Attorney of the Year by the Century City Bar Association in 1996, and was named Defense Attorney of the Year by the Criminal Justice Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association in 1999.  In 2003, Mr. Hirsch received the Career Achievement Award from the Criminal Courts Bar Association.  He was also named a "Super Lawyers of Southern California" from 2004 to 2009. 

Mr. Hirsch has been involved in several organizations that focus on criminal law matters.  He was a Chairman of the Criminal Law Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and a Member of its Board of Directors.  Mr. Hirsch was also President of the Criminal Courts Bar Association, President and Vice President of the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, and a Member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. 

Mr. Hirsch has also served as a Commissioner of the California Council on Criminal Justice, Member of the Chief Justices Special Advisory Committee on Courts and the Media, Chair of the Criminal Justice Walk of Fame Committee, Member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Task Force on the State Criminal Justice System, and President and Vice President of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers.

Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Hirsch was a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney. He received his B.A. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, and his Juris Doctor from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley. 

Mr. Hirsch is the author of "I Know it When I Seize It:  Selected Problems in Obscenity," published in Loyola University of Los Angeles Law Review.  He has authored a chaper entitled, "Release Procedures," in the California Criminal Law, Procedure and Practice treatise.  Mr. Hirsch has also been an instructor for the California Trial Lawyers Association.

Devoted to his community, Mr. Hirsch was part of the Mayor's Advisory Committee to the Greek Theater, part of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee from 1980 to 1984, Member of the Board of Directors of the Voter Registration Program, President of the Board of Trustees of the Santa Monica Museum of Art, and Chairman of the Ocean Park Community Center. 

Mr. Hirsch is admitted to practice law in California and the United States Supreme Court.
